Corporate Carbon Footprint
Metpack, as a polymer coated paper packaging manufacturer, became the first company in Turkey to receive the ISO 14064-1:2018 corporate carbon footprint certificate for greenhouse gas reduction in this sector.
Metpack, with the aim of becoming a company with a low carbon footprint, has prepared the said corporate carbon footprint reports with data for 2021, 2022 and 2023 in line with the awareness of being a sustainable institution by identifying greenhouse gas emission sources and calculating the amount of emissions, verified by TÜV AUSTRIA, an independent, accredited organization within the scope of 14064-1, and was entitled to have ISO 14064-1: 2018 certificate.
While our carbon footprint was 63,082.12 t CO2e in our report prepared in 2023 with 2022 data, it was verified and certified by TUV Austria, an accredited organization within the scope of ISO 14064-1, that our carbon footprint calculated this year with 2023 data is 47,043.86 t CO2e. We reduced our carbon footprint by 25.4%.

In addition to its corporate carbon footprint, Metpack received the ISO 14067:2018 product carbon footprint certificate in 2024.
Using the cradle-to-door (to the customer) principle that makes our Metpack branded products measurable, developable and comparable; we calculated the carbon footprint of our products, had it verified and certified within the scope of ISO 14067. In this way, we take another important step in line with our sustainability activities and help our valued business partners make environmentally friendly decisions in their search for a sustainable product to deliver to the end consumer.

Metpack has ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System Certification. In parallel with its efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, it continued its energy efficiency standard infrastructure works at full speed and realized energy efficiency projects with solar power plants.
Thanks to the thermal insulation panels used on the exterior of our production facility, high energy savings are achieved in heating and cooling.
As a result of the waste management plan we implemented, we recycled our waste from production; In line with the data we obtained from our 14064-1 greenhouse gas emissions calculation and verification reports, we prevented the release of greenhouse gases enough to neutralize our 2023 direct emission value (463.65 tCO2e) and reached our waste-related carbon neutrality target.
1- In 2023, by separating our waste in our facility and recycling it;
We prevented 459.3 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
We prevented the occupation of 7184 m² of storage area.
We protected 42,688 trees.
2- Considering that the sustainable use of natural resources is of great importance in the fight against climate change, thanks to the recycling of our waste;

Electric forklifts are used in our production facility instead of fossil fuel forklifts.
Today, the importance of sustainable use of natural resources is increasing. Water is one of the most important of these important natural resources.
In order to protect our water, one of the most important natural resources, and to save money for a sustainable future, we calculated and verified our water footprint and were certified within the scope of ISO 14046:2016.
As MET Kağıtçılık (METPACK), we help to ensure a healthier environment for future generations with the investments we make within the scope of activities to reduce our water footprint.
Metpack has been certified with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) standards since 2018. Most of the paper/cardboard raw materials used are obtained from certified and sustainably managed sources.
In line with these standards, we continue to source most of our raw materials from sustainably managed sources.

With our FIBRA recycling facility, we aim to minimize our environmental footprint by balancing our polymer consumption. We are also creating a circular economy with our customers to create a safer environment for the future.
