Biodegredation is becoming crucial for all kinds of packaging products. Not only that, we are looking for more sustainable products every day.

Due to our collaboration with different biopolymer producers and after vigorous trials/testing, we have developed our special grade which is not only biodegredable, but also home compostable.

The recycling rates of current commercial cups and bowls are extremely low, both on the plastics and paper side. Therefore an alternative had to be developed. An alternative which can disintigrate in nature, leave no microplastics behind and commercially viable.

Our EzyCompost grade provides exactly that. We believe until a further technological advancement, EzyCompost is the most sustainable solution for food packaging.

What is EzyCompost?

Is EzyCompost suitable for hot beverage cups?
Yes. EzyCompost is suitable for hot beverage applications. It can be processed on standard forming lines using heat sealing, ultrasonic sealing, or cold-glue sealing.

What type of coating does EzyCompost use?
EzyCompost is produced as a biopolymer extruded paperboard solution. We offer different biopolymer coating configurations depending on the intended packaging application and performance requirements.
What EzyCompost coating configurations are available?
EzyCompost is currently available in one-sided and two-sided configurations, including: EzyCompost 1S + 20 GSM, EzyCompost 1S + 24 GSM, and EzyCompost 2S + 24 + 24 GSM. EzyCompost is certified up to 334 GSM in total composition.
What is the difference between EzyCompost and conventional PE-coated paperboard?
EzyCompost provides similar processability to PE while offering a home-compostable and biodegradable alternative. For applications where recyclability, compostability, and compatibility with conventional forming equipment are important, EzyCompost provides a sustainable alternative to conventional packaging structures.
What basis weights are available for EzyCompost?
EzyCompost is certified up to 334 GSM in total composition. Available product configurations include 20 GSM and 24 GSM coating options, as well as a two-sided 24 + 24 GSM configuration. The appropriate structure depends on the application and required performance.
Can EzyCompost be coated on one side or both sides?
Yes. EzyCompost is available in both one-sided and two-sided configurations. Our current product range includes 1S + 20 GSM, 1S + 24 GSM, and 2S + 24 + 24 GSM structures.
Is EzyCompost suitable for printing?
EzyCompost can be considered for printed food and beverage packaging applications. The appropriate printing process, inks, and surface treatment should be evaluated according to the specific application and printing technology. Does EzyCompost have heat-sealing properties?
Yes. EzyCompost is suitable for standard forming lines using heat sealing and ultrasonic sealing. It can also be processed using cold-glue sealing.
Does EzyCompost provide a barrier against liquids, fats, grease, and mineral oil?
Yes. EzyCompost provides excellent barrier properties against liquids, fats, grease, and mineral oil, making it suitable for a wide range of food and beverage packaging applications. EzyCompost has KIT-11 greaseproof properties.
Is EzyCompost recyclable?
Yes. The finished EzyCompost product is recyclable in the paper stream according to CEPI and 4evergreen protocols.
Is EzyCompost home compostable?
Yes. EzyCompost is certified home compostable from TUV Austria and BPI. Under home or backyard composting conditions, the composition decomposes within 12 weeks. EzyCompost has also undergone an aerobic quantitative disintegration test (Home Composting Test) at 28°C, achieving 100% disintegration after 10.7 weeks of composting.
Is EzyCompost biodegradable?
Yes. EzyCompost is biodegradable and designed to provide a more sustainable alternative for food and beverage packaging.
Is EzyCompost accepted by commercial (Industrial) composters after use?
Yes. EzyCompost is certified by Compost Manufacturers Alliance under CMA-I and composters are willingly accepting EzyCompost.
Is EzyCompost PFAS-free?
Yes. EzyCompost is PFAS-free.
Is EzyCompost available with FSC or PEFC certification?
Yes. FSC and PEFC options are available for EzyCompost.
Does EzyCompost contain persistent microplastics?
EzyCompost is designed to avoid the formation of persistent microplastics and is developed as a home-compostable packaging solution. EzyCompost is free of microplastics according to ISO 24899.
Can EzyCompost be used on standard packaging-forming equipment?
Yes. EzyCompost is suitable for standard forming lines using heat, ultrasonic, and cold-glue sealing. Its processability is similar to PE and significantly easier than PLA.
Is customized EzyCompost production available?
Yes. We can evaluate special production requirements according to the intended application. Custom requirements may include the desired paperboard structure, coating configuration, dimensions, and performance requirements. Please contact our team to discuss your specific application.
